ABOUT THE PRACTICE
Cognitive Edge Counseling is a private counseling practice based in Alma, Michigan. This website provides general information about the practice, its approach, and the services that may be available. It also provides ways for prospective and current clients to contact the practice.
Information on this website does not guarantee that services will be available, appropriate, or offered to any particular person.
NO MEDICAL OR MENTAL HEALTH ADVICE
The content on this website is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not medical advice, mental health advice, diagnosis, treatment, crisis intervention, or a substitute for an evaluation or care from a qualified professional.
You should not rely on website content when making decisions about your health, mental health, treatment, medication, or personal safety.
NO COUNSELOR AND CLIENT RELATIONSHIP
Accessing this website, reading its content, calling the practice, or submitting a contact form does not create a counselor and client relationship.
A counselor and client relationship begins only after:
-
The practice has determined that it can appropriately provide services;

The client and practice have completed the required intake and consent process; and
-
The practice has expressly agreed to provide counseling services.
The practice has no professional duty to a website visitor merely because the visitor accessed the website or submitted an inquiry.

If you or another person is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

WEBSITE COMMUNICATIONS AND PRIVACY
Please do not submit detailed clinical information, diagnoses, treatment records, Social Security numbers, payment card information, or other highly sensitive information through a general website contact form or ordinary email.
Although the practice takes reasonable steps to protect information, no website, form, email system, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Submitting information through the website does not guarantee that the information will be treated as part of a clinical record.
Information submitted through the website may be used to respond to your inquiry, determine whether the practice may be able to assist you, schedule an initial conversation, maintain website security, and operate the website as described in our Privacy Policy.
If Cognitive Edge Counseling is a covered entity under HIPAA, its Notice of Privacy Practices separately explains how protected health information may be used and disclosed and describes applicable patient rights. These Terms do not replace that notice or any authorization, consent, or clinical privacy document required by law.
COUNSELING SERVICES
Counseling services are governed by separate documents provided during intake, which may include informed consent, privacy practices, telehealth terms, financial policies, cancellation policies, communication policies, and other clinical agreements.
If these Terms conflict with a signed clinical agreement concerning counseling services, the clinical agreement will control with respect to those services.
The practice may decline to provide services or may refer an individual to another provider when permitted by applicable law and professional standards.
GEOGRAPHIC AND LICENSING LIMITATIONS
Counseling services are available only where the treating professional is legally authorized to practice and where the client is physically located at the time services are delivered.
Information about services on this website is not an offer to provide counseling in a state or jurisdiction where the practice or counselor is not authorized to provide those services.
FEES AND PAYMENT
Cognitive Edge Counseling is a private-pay practice unless the practice expressly states otherwise in writing.
Applicable fees, payment expectations, cancellation charges, refund terms, and other financial policies will be disclosed before counseling services begin or before a charge is authorized. Visiting this website or submitting an inquiry does not authorize the practice to charge you.
Payments for counseling services are governed by the financial agreement or other written policy provided to the client. Nothing in these Terms changes any rights or obligations established by applicable law.
